Erin Kosteva, M.Ed.

Author

Erin has been an educator for 20 years, currently working as a Literacy Leader for Fairfax County Public schools. She has experience working with students and teachers from pre-k through high school as a classroom teacher, reading and intervention specialist, literacy coach and consultant. After receiving a Master of Education degree in reading from the University of Virginia, the Curry School of Education brought her on board to work as an Instructor of Education and Outreach Reading Specialist for their non-credit professional development program. She has extensive training in various reading intervention programs and instructional approaches based on the science of reading and uses her knowledge and skills to implement and train teachers in evidence-based practices. Erin is a firm believer in increasing student achievement by strengthening the knowledge and skills of educators. She enjoys contributing to high-quality educational resource development through content writing, lesson plan design and by leading professional learning. As a young child, Erin struggled with reading due to a lack of high-quality instruction. Her lens as a struggling reader herself motivates and drives her dedication to ensure that students receive the instruction they need to be confident and successful readers. Outside of professional work, Erin spends time with her husband at the baseball field cheering on their son and on the farm watching their daughter ride horses.
